VICTORIA BOLAND: BIO

BIO

Victoria Boland is a "vevila", a Gaelic term for "a woman of melodious voice". Born with a song in her heart and music in her soul, Victoria first charmed audiences with her rich, mellow voice at the age of 6, and cut her first recording at age 8 in Australia.

In her teens, Victoria was awarded 2 scholarships to Boston's Berklee College of Music for her jazz vocals but after taking out the title of Canadian Country 18 & Under Singing Champion in 2000, Victoria turned to country music for 4 years. In 2001, she wrote, produced and toured with her own CD,  ALL WOMAN GIRL. After working on a country project with members of Elton John's band in 2003/4, despite winning the coveted title of 2004 winner of the Canadian Open Country Singing Contest, Victoria retired from country music.

Other highlights of Victoria's musical career include performances to a standing ovation from an audience of 18,000 at a Shania Twain concert in 1999 & singing to 16,000 at Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee in 2003.


In her early 20's, Victoria branched into other areas of entertainment, beginning with being the female headliner in a tribute show in Hong Kong for four months over 2005/6. She followed that with a 6-month engagement as a duo/tribute act with her current partner, Andrew Rudd, on the Windsurf, a Holland America cruise ship. In 2007, she & Andrew performed at the Tim Hortons Brier. In 2007 they agreed to headline in SUPERSTARS TRIBUTE LIVE which is still touring now in 2010(as AndrewVictoria's schedule allows) and has raised over $100,000 for the Children's Wish Foundation and various other Canadian charities.  If you'd like to see this show, keep checking the EVENTS page on either this site or the SUPERSTARS site for a show near you.

Despite being a successful tribute artist, Victoria's primary focus has always been, and still is, her singer/songwriter aspirations. She and Andrew are currently working hard on their new EP which will finally be released late 2010. All we can tell you is that this CD "puts music back into music!"
